Egypt: 100-Day Bike Race Launched


Chairman of the Tourism Promotion Authority Amr El Azabi launched on Saturday 14/01/2012 the start signal of the tenth international race bikes that was organized by the Canadian tourist company "Tour of Africa" in cooperation with EMCO company for tourism. The race is kicking off from the pyramids in Giza with its last leg being Cape Town in South Africa.

El Azabi said that the race distance is 1,010 km in Egypt where it passes through the governorates of Giza, Suez, the Red Sea, Luxor and Aswan along with a number of African countries end with Cape Town.

He added that the Tourism Promotion Authority has provided all possible assistance and coordination with the authorities concerned to guarantee the success of the race, which is one of the most important tools for promoting Egyptian tourism.

He pointed out that participating in the race are 60 competitors from different countries including Canada, the Netherlands, Hungary, the Czech Republic, South Africa, France, Belgium, Britain, Ireland, Australia and Poland.
